Spots, Scars, and Stretch Marks: Lasers Can Treat Them All

As you go through life, you’re bound to pick up a couple of skin imperfections, whether they be from acne, weight loss and gain, sun damage, aging signs, or simple clumsy accidents. Sometimes your spots, scars, and stretch marks are in places that are easy to cover, or you find pride in them and don’t mind people seeing.

In the past, there wasn’t much to be done about skin imperfections. You could conceal them with makeup or choose clothing that hid them from others. Although there were some treatments available, they could be painful, require long sessions and downtime periods, and often didn’t produce as-advertised results.

Now, the Icon™ Aesthetic Treatment can help you get rid of imperfect skin for good. This laser-based treatment technique may be the answer to your blemishes.

If you’re ready to get on the road to eliminating your spots, scars, and stretch marks in a noninvasive manner, come see us at Best Care Clinic. We’ll work with you to create a custom treatment plan that uses the Icon laser to give you the skin you desire. Denise Tittle, DO, and the rest of our team are experts in family health care and aesthetic services; we’ll make sure you get the care you need.

What are skin imperfections?

Skin imperfections are a sign that your body is doing its job and healing small wounds. To help with healing, your body sent cells and collagen, a structural protein, to the impacted area.

While the collagen does its job, it doesn’t have any concerns other than healing – this means there’s sometimes just enough collagen to heal the skin, but not make it even with the skin around it. Other times, too much collagen may arrive. The end result is healed skin that leaves a mark.

What does an Icon Laser Aesthetic Treatment do?

The Icon uses fractional laser technology. While it may sound intimidating, fractional laser technology just means that it uses thousands of tiny laser beams to treat a fraction of the skin. The Icon uses a range of settings to control the focus and intensity of the laser to make sure it doesn’t damage the surface of your skin or any non-targeted areas surrounding the imperfections.

During a treatment, the Icon’s lasers cause a small injury that stimulates the production of new elastin and collagen proteins. It also helps boost circulation and breaks apart damaged cells so that the body can eliminate them naturally. The end result? Rejuvenated skin.

What skin conditions can Icon treat?

The Icon lasers can be calibrated for a variety of skin conditions and imperfections. A few examples include:

At Best Care Clinic, we’ve also had success with body hair removal. After a couple of Icon treatments, patients have smooth, silky skin that is wonderfully soft and touchable. Also, Icon lasers don’t discriminate. Some other laser and light-based products only work with light and white skin. Icon lasers can work with any skin tone.

Are Icon treatments really noninvasive?

Yes. Icon treatments are non-invasive. You may have some redness or mild swelling immediately after a treatment, but you’ll be able to resume your everyday activities. During the treatment, you’ll feel some warmth and the sensation of a rubber band being snapped against your skin. Most patients have no trouble during the procedure, but we do offer a local anesthetic if needed.
